Campaigner and Advocate

Geoff is a passionate campaigner for breaking the stigma associated with Mental Health in the corporate world. He has participated in a number of BBC programmes and campaigns on this subject, and is regularly featured in interviews and podcasts on the subject, and has written a number of articles for newspapers and journals.

In 2016 Geoff convened a meeting at No 10 Downing Street with David Cameron and CEOs from FTSE 100 Companies, to address their role and agree actions to challenge the way mental health issues are perceived in business.

He has also provided some support to the Royal Foundation (the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex) in their Heads Together mental health campaign, and recently had the opportunity to engage with Pope Francis on how we can create a more sustainable and inclusive economy through his involvement with the Global Foundation.

Geoff is a co-founder of the Minds@Work network, which has grown from 14 members to over 1400 in three years. Its purpose is to inspire and equip individuals to break the stigma of mental ill health in the organisations in which they work. He was previously a trustee of Family Links, a charity promoting and educating parents and teachers to develop emotionally-healthy children and young adults. He was also a trustee of the global campaign It’s a Penalty combating the exploitation of young children around the world.

In addition, he is currently an advisor to the United For Global Mental Health campaign and has been appointed to the advisory board of City Mental Health Alliance. He is a patron of the International Stress Management Association and a member of the Prince’s Trust Youth Opportunity Taskforce with the purpose of creating change that will unlock the potential in the UK’s youth.

Since 2017 Geoff has been a member of the Forward Institute, contributing both content and design of the leadership programme which they offer to leaders across all sectors.

He was also recently appointed as an advisor to a number of small Tech Start-Ups looking at how technology can pro-actively enhance the mental health and wellbeing of individuals.

“Driving home the clear message that business has an ethical responsibility to support the mental health and well-being of its people. It’s not a ‘nice to have’, it’s essential, it’s not ‘we’ll do something about it soon’, it’s ‘do it NOW’.”

Amy McDonald Founder & CEO Headtorch

“Our goal with this event was to kickstart an incredibly important conversation for the L&D profession in Ireland. You… have given our members the belief that they can positively influence change and the courage to start to do something about it.”

Kevin Hannigan – HPC Global

“We are progressing our commitment to train all our line managers, educate our 4,500 colleagues. Yesterday we had a leadership meeting and our MD quoted our Mental Health work multiple times as being a proud moment for him.”
